Deleting your Certorix account
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time. This action is irreversible.
Before deleting your account
- Export any trees, facts, or session data you want to keep (see Data export for GDPR).
- Cancel any active subscription (if paid plan) — otherwise deletion will fail.
- Remove all team members (admins only).
- Inform other team members if you are deleting a shared organization account.
Steps to delete account
- Go to Account settings → Danger zone tab.
- Click Delete account.
- Confirm your password (required).
- Type a confirmation message:
DELETE MY ACCOUNT(all caps). - Click Permanently delete.
What happens after deletion
- Immediate (within minutes):
- All your API tokens are invalidated.
- You are logged out of all sessions.
- Your email becomes available for new registration.
- Within 30 days:
- Data is placed in a 'to be deleted' queue.
- No access to data (cannot restore).
- After 30 days:
- Data is permanently erased from all Certorix systems (including backups).
Recovering after deletion
There is no recovery. Once you confirm deletion, the process cannot be reversed.
If you want to use Certorix again, you must register a new account from scratch.
Deleting organization (admin only)
If you are an admin and want to delete the entire organization (remove all members and data), use the Delete organization button in the same Danger zone tab. This requires at least two admins to approve.
- Primary admin initiates deletion.
- Secondary admin receives approval request by email.
- Once approved, 14‑day grace period before permanent deletion.
- During grace period, the organization is frozen (no edits, no widget access).
