Two‑factor authentication (2FA)

Add an extra layer of security to your Certorix account with two‑factor authentication.

Supported 2FA methods

  • TOTP (Time‑based One‑Time Password) – Use Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, or any TOTP app.
  • SMS (text message) – Available for Business plan only.
  • Backup codes – Generated automatically when you enable 2FA. Store them securely.

Enabling 2FA with TOTP

  1. Go to Account settings (click avatar → Account settings).
  2. Click the Security tab.
  3. Click Enable two‑factor authentication.
  4. Install a TOTP app on your phone if you don't have one (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy).
  5. Scan the QR code shown on screen with your authenticator app.
  6. Enter the 6‑digit code from your authenticator app.
  7. Click Verify and enable.
  8. Save your backup codes – Store them in a password manager or print them. You will need them if you lose access to your authenticator app.

Logging in with 2FA enabled

  1. Enter your email and password as usual.
  2. You are prompted for a verification code.
  3. Open your authenticator app and enter the current 6‑digit code.
  4. If you lose your device, use a backup code instead.

Disabling 2FA

Go to Account settings → Security → Click Disable two‑factor authentication. You will be prompted for a verification code or backup code to confirm.

Recovery if you lose your device

Use any unused backup code to log in. After using a backup code, immediately go to Security settings to generate new backup codes or disable 2FA.
